Cleaner, better-tasting water

Water filtration in Anthem, AZ

If you are tired of cloudy or bad-tasting water that leaves residue on dishes and fixtures, a water treatment system may help. Trident Plumbing & Drain provides water filtration in Anthem and helps you choose equipment based on the concern you want to address.

Contact our North Phoenix office to discuss your water. Say what has changed, where it appears and whether you are thinking about drinking water at the kitchen sink or treatment for the whole home. Different systems do different jobs, so the choice starts with the problem.

Signs worth a closer look

Even water that looks clear can carry things you would rather remove. Common reasons to ask about treatment include a chlorine or metallic smell, a cloudy or murky appearance, a strange or bitter taste and residue or scale on fixtures and appliances.

Some people also notice that skin and hair feel dry after showering. These observations help start the conversation, but they do not identify specific contaminants, so testing and product information help connect a concern to the right equipment.

Matching the system

Filtering out what you do not want

Reverse osmosis uses a multi-stage process to treat drinking water and reduce dissolved solids, usually at one tap such as the kitchen sink. Carbon filtration is effective at improving taste and odor, including the chlorine smell some households notice.

Water softeners address hardness, the cause of the mineral scale that collects on fixtures and inside water-using appliances. Some homes combine systems, such as a softener for the whole house and reverse osmosis for drinking water; Trident can explain how the options work together.

Better-tasting water is the benefit most people notice first. Reducing scale can also help protect fixtures, water heaters and other appliances from mineral buildup, which is one reason softeners are often considered alongside filtration.

Set expectations around the specific concern. A softener does not filter drinking water, and a carbon filter does not soften it. Ask which of your observations each proposed system targets, and which it leaves unchanged.

Keep it working

Filtration systems need periodic attention to keep performing. Filter replacement intervals depend on the model, how much water the household uses and the water conditions, so follow the manufacturer’s schedule and keep the installation details with your home records.

Trident’s membership plans include reverse osmosis filter changes and salt service for water softeners. If a system already installed is not performing as expected, describe the change and the system’s age when contacting the office.

Start with the report

Reading EPCOR's report before choosing a system

EPCOR publishes a water quality report for the district each year, and the 2025 edition includes data collected through 2025. Besides hardness of about 18 grains per gallon, it lists total dissolved solids of 640 mg/L and calcium of 80 ppm from a 2024 sample, sodium results from 21 to 110 ppm, and a highest amount detected of 3.7 parts per billion of arsenic against a federal limit of 10. Those figures describe water leaving the treatment plant, not the water at your tap.

Each kind of treatment answers a different line in that report. A softener handles the calcium and magnesium behind hardness. Carbon filtration targets the chlorine EPCOR adds as a disinfectant. Reverse osmosis lowers dissolved solids and sodium at a single drinking water tap. EPCOR also reminds owners of softeners and reverse osmosis systems to follow the manufacturer's maintenance instructions, since skipping maintenance can result in poor water quality.

System costs

What a treatment system's price depends on

Treatment systems vary with how much water they treat and what they need to remove. Most of the gap between two quotes comes from these factors.

The current Trident offer is 20% off a new water softener or filtration system. One per household. Offers can't be combined; some restrictions apply. Our reverse osmosis membership includes a filter change every year for five years, and the salt service membership adds softener salt every 6 to 8 weeks.

  • A whole-home softener, a drinking water system or both.
  • Capacity sized for an 18-grain supply and your household's use.
  • An existing softener loop, drain and power at the install spot.
  • Replacement filters and the maintenance schedule.
  • Removing an older system.

What EPCOR reports

Numbers from EPCOR's Anthem water report

EPCOR's 2025 report lists what was measured in the water. These figures help match a treatment system to a concern.

Total dissolved solids in EPCOR's 2024 sample
640 mg/L

It is an overall measure of the minerals in water leaving the treatment plant. Reverse osmosis is the usual way to lower dissolved minerals at a drinking water tap.

Range of sodium results in EPCOR's 2025 report
21–110 ppm

The highest result was 110 ppm, measured in water leaving the treatment plant. Sodium affects taste, and reverse osmosis can reduce it at a single tap.

Highest running annual average of chlorine, 2025
0.74 ppm

EPCOR adds chlorine as a disinfectant. Carbon filtration is the usual answer when its taste or smell bothers you.

Questions about
water filtration in Anthem.

Questions about water filtration in Anthem? Start here, or tell us what is happening at your home.

Ask our team
Will a water softener make my water taste better?

Not necessarily. A softener reduces hardness minerals; taste and odor are usually addressed with carbon filtration or reverse osmosis.

Can I treat only my drinking water?

Yes. A point-of-use reverse osmosis system handles the water you drink and cook with, leaving the rest of the house untreated.

If my water looks and tastes normal, do I still need treatment?

Not always, but appearance and taste do not identify every substance present. Testing and the concern you want to address help determine whether a system is worthwhile.

Do you install water filtration for businesses in Anthem?

Yes. Trident installs and services water treatment systems for residential and commercial properties. Describe how the water is used at the business when arranging a visit.

Does EPCOR's water contain chlorine?

Yes. EPCOR adds chlorine as a disinfectant, and its 2025 report lists a highest running annual average of 0.74 ppm in the distribution system. Carbon filtration or reverse osmosis can reduce the taste and smell at home.

Where do I find EPCOR's water quality report for Anthem?

EPCOR posts its reports on its water quality reports page. Use the report titled Anthem, system number AZ0407504; EPCOR lists its San Tan at Anthem report separately. The tables near the back hold the figures.
