Clear the whole line

Hydro Jetting

Slow drains? Hydro jetting can clear the line

Grease, soap residue, mineral deposits, food waste, sludge and tree roots can gradually narrow drain and sewer lines. When that buildup coats the pipe, basic clog removal may only create a temporary opening. Hydro jetting uses controlled, high-pressure water to break apart stubborn obstructions and flush the debris through.

Trident Plumbing & Drain works with homeowners and businesses dealing with recurring clogs, slow drains, backups or drain odors. The plumber inspects the affected line, identifies the problem and determines whether hydro jetting, drain cleaning and repair or another solution suits the pipe. Our North Phoenix office arranges service.

How it works

What is hydro jetting?

Hydro jetting sends highly pressurized water through a specialized hose and nozzle. The water cuts through heavy buildup and washes grease, sludge and mineral deposits off the interior walls of the pipe.

It is used for recurring or severe clogs, slow sinks, showers and tubs, grease in kitchen drain lines, debris in the main sewer line and odors from trapped buildup. It can also serve as preventive cleaning for commercial plumbing systems.

What it removes

Benefits of hydro jetting

Because it cleans the pipe walls rather than opening a small path, jetting can clear difficult clogs and help restore dependable flow. It removes grease, sludge, mineral deposits, debris and certain types of root intrusion without harsh drain-cleaning chemicals.

Clearing trapped debris can reduce odors and may help prevent future backups. The method works for both residential and commercial systems, though the condition of the line decides whether it is appropriate.

Pipe condition first

When hydro jetting is not the right choice

Before jetting begins, the plumber inspects the drain or sewer line. High-pressure water may not be appropriate for pipes that are cracked, collapsed, heavily corroded or otherwise weakened.

In those cases, targeted sewer line service or a repair may be needed first. When the pipe is in good condition, jetting can proceed and clean the line more completely than standard clog removal.

Choosing the service

Drain cleaning, jetting or sewer work

Standard drain cleaning may be enough for a single clog with a clear cause. Hydro jetting is usually considered when buildup keeps returning, and sewer service when the inspection points to damage in the main line.

Before work begins, the plumber explains what was found and reviews your options. Ask what the recommended method is expected to fix and what signs would suggest a follow-up visit.

Where drains lead

From your cleanout to Pima's treatment plant

Every drain in the house empties into a line that crosses your lot and joins Pima's sewer system. Pima's December 2025 rate filing describes that system as lift stations feeding a treatment plant rated at 2.4 million gallons a day, with treated water recharged into the aquifer or used to irrigate the golf course. Under the Arizona Corporation Commission's rules for sewer utilities, the utility handles sewage from the customer's point of collection, and each customer maintains the facilities on their own premises.

Jetting cleans lines such as the kitchen drain, the main drain under the house and the line across the yard. Age matters here: about 47% of homes in Sun Lakes were built before 1990, so the line is inspected first to separate grease and scale from roots, offsets or cracked pipe. If the inspection shows a break rather than buildup, Maricopa County lists sewer line repair among the permits it issues online.

Pricing a jetting job

What changes the cost of hydro jetting

A jetting quote follows the length and condition of the line more than the clog itself. These are the main factors.

Our preventative maintenance plan takes 10% off plumbing services, and weekend visits are part of our regular schedule at no additional fee.

  • Where the line can be reached: an outdoor cleanout, a roof vent or a fixture.
  • How far the buildup runs and what it is made of.
  • A camera inspection before jetting and a second look afterward.
  • Roots or debris that need cutting before the line can be flushed.
  • Damage that calls for a repair instead of cleaning.

They came out quickly, did camera work, and took the time to thoroughly track down the issue instead of rushing. Turns out we had roots breaking a pipe under our tub.

Questions about
hydro jetting in Sun Lakes.

Questions about hydro jetting in Sun Lakes? Start here, or tell us what is happening at your home.

Ask our team
Does hydro jetting use chemicals?

No. It relies on pressurized water to remove grease, sludge and other buildup, so harsh drain-cleaning chemicals are not part of the process.

What happens if the pipe is cracked?

Jetting may not be appropriate for a cracked, collapsed or weakened pipe. The plumber will explain the repair or sewer service needed first.

Can hydro jetting help with drain odors?

It can when the odor comes from buildup trapped in the line. The inspection confirms whether that is the source.

Will I know the plan before the work starts?

Yes. The plumber explains what the inspection found and reviews your options before any cleaning begins.

Will Pima clear a clog in my sewer line?

Under the state's rules for sewer utilities, the utility is responsible for handling sewage from the customer's point of collection, and the customer is responsible for maintaining all facilities on the customer's premises. If several neighbors are backing up at once, or you cannot tell which side of that point the clog is on, call Pima.

How often should an older drain line be jetted?

There is no fixed schedule. That turns on the cause of the buildup and on what goes down the drains afterward. If the line is filmed after the first cleaning, the footage shows how it looks when clear, which makes the next inspection easier to judge.
