Tolleson plumbing for homes and businesses

Trident Plumbing & Drain is a woman-, veteran- and family-owned company providing plumbing repairs, installations and maintenance. Services range from fixture, kitchen and bathroom plumbing to drain cleaning, hydro jetting, sewer services, slab leak repair, repiping, water heaters and water treatment.

This guide starts with water quality and treatment, then covers what to do about a sudden leak, plumbing for businesses and the choice between tank and tankless water heaters. Use the service groups below for more detail on each type of work.

Know your water first

Start with the city's water quality reports

The City of Tolleson posts annual water quality reports on its website. The most recent report describes where the water comes from and the results of the city's testing. If your property receives city water, it is a useful starting point before choosing a treatment system.

Then decide what you want to change. Reverse osmosis is typically used for drinking water at a single tap, carbon filtration reduces chlorine and improves taste and odor, and a whole-home softener reduces the minerals behind scale buildup. Trident installs and maintains all three.

Limit the water

What to do about a sudden water leak

If water is spraying or spreading, shut off the main water supply to the property to limit the flooding, then call for help. Knowing where the main shutoff valve is before anything goes wrong makes that first step much easier.

When you call, describe where the water appeared, whether it is still escaping and which fixtures are affected. A leak beneath the slab may show up as damp or warm flooring rather than visible water, and it calls for leak detection before repair.

For businesses

Commercial plumbing has to account for the building layout, how the space is used and when areas can be closed for work. Trident provides commercial repairs, installations and maintenance, from restroom fixtures and kitchen lines to drain and sewer service.

When requesting service, include which areas are affected, who can provide access and any times when work would disrupt operations. Routine maintenance and inspections can help a business catch problems before they interrupt daily use.

Weigh the switch

Deciding whether tankless is worth it

Tankless water heaters heat water as it flows through the unit rather than keeping a tank hot, and they take up less space than a storage tank. They can supply continuous hot water as long as demand stays within the unit's capacity.

Whether switching makes sense depends on how your household or business uses hot water, the space available and the existing gas or electrical supply. Trident can compare a tankless unit with a conventional or hybrid tank and explain what installation would involve.

Water sources

Two wells, EDR treatment and water from Phoenix

The City of Tolleson runs its own water and sewer utility. Its Utilities Department delivers an average of 4 million gallons a day through an estimated 60 miles of water lines, drawing on two major sources: groundwater and water purchased from the City of Phoenix. Water from the City's two wells is treated at electrodialysis reversal (EDR) plants, and a small amount of sodium hypochlorite is added at the end as a disinfectant.

The 2025 water quality report covers both sources, with the Phoenix results in a separate table. For the City's own system, nitrate across all samples ranged from 0 to 4 mg/L, against a federal limit of 10. The Phoenix table lists sodium from 91 to 183 mg/L and arsenic up to 8.5 parts per billion, against a limit of 10. The report does not publish a hardness figure, so size a softener from a test of the water at your own tap rather than a guess.

Check your address

A shared ZIP code doesn't mean City water

The 85353 ZIP code is shared with several neighboring cities south of Buckeye Road. The City warns that an address may carry its name without being inside city limits, and that anyone outside them needs to call the city they live in for water service. Its utilities page lists numbers for Avondale and Phoenix alongside its own. The name on your water bill settles the question, and it also tells you whose water quality report applies to your home.

Inside city limits, the City provides sewer service along with water and treats the wastewater at its own plant. Built in the 1960s, the plant uses about 7 million of its 17.5 million gallons a day of capacity and also takes flows from as far north as Sun City through the shared SROG pipeline. The City keeps a separate phone line for water and wastewater emergencies, and the Civic Center, where residents set up or stop service, is open Monday through Thursday.

Homes and renters

Older homes, and more renters than owners

Census estimates count about 2,900 homes in the city, with a median build year of 1996. That middle figure hides a wide spread. About 52% went up between 1990 and 2009, roughly 42% are older, including about 16% from the 1950s, and only about 6% were built in 2010 or later. In a house from the 1950s, the supply lines, drains and fixtures may have been replaced one at a time, so the plumbing can mix materials and ages.

About 58% of occupied homes are rented, so tenants and owners should agree on who calls for repairs and who approves the work. If lead is a concern in an older home, the City's 2025 report links to its lead service line inventory online and asks residents who want their water tested to contact the City. Our team can look at the supply lines and fixtures and explain the options before any repair or repiping begins.

Questions about plumbing services in Tolleson? Start here, or tell us what is happening at your home.

Ask our team
Do you offer plumbing services for both homes and businesses?

Yes. Trident handles residential and commercial plumbing, from small home repairs to commercial installations and maintenance.

What should I do first if a pipe starts leaking?

Turn off the main water supply to limit the flooding, then contact Trident. Describe where the water is coming from and which areas are affected.

How can I tell if I need professional drain cleaning?

Recurring clogs, slow drains and lingering odors are early signs. Professional cleaning removes buildup without the harsh chemicals that store-bought products rely on.

Where can I learn about the water supplied to my property?

If you receive City of Tolleson water, the city publishes annual water quality reports online. Reviewing one can help when deciding on filtration or softening.

My address says Tolleson. Does the City supply my water?

Not necessarily. The City says the 85353 ZIP code is shared with neighboring cities south of Buckeye Road, so an address can carry the name without being inside city limits. Check the name on your water bill to confirm which city serves you.

How is the City's well water treated?

Water from the City's two groundwater wells goes through electrodialysis reversal (EDR) treatment plants, and a small amount of sodium hypochlorite is added at the end as a disinfectant. The rest of the supply is water the City buys from Phoenix.

Who do I call about a water or sewer emergency?

The City lists a separate line for water and wastewater emergencies on its Utilities page, apart from its billing number. If your address is outside city limits, call the city named on your water bill instead.

Can I find out whether my home has a lead service line?

The City's 2025 water quality report links to its lead service line inventory, which is posted online, and invites residents to contact the City for more on the inventory or its lead sampling.

Where does wastewater from homes here go?

To the City's treatment plant, which also takes flows from as far north as Sun City. The City says that, apart from the station's maintenance periods, its treated effluent goes to the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station for use in the plant's process.
