Narrow down the cause

Water filtration for El Mirage homes and businesses

Water that tastes off, leaves residue on dishes or carries visible particles affects everything from cooking to cleaning. Trident Plumbing & Drain installs reverse osmosis units, carbon filters and water softeners, tailored to the concern and to how the property uses water.

Arrange a consultation through our Peoria office. Say whether the change is in hot or cold water and how long it has been happening, and we will help you decide which system, if any, addresses it.

Hot, cold or both

Is it the water or the plumbing?

Discolored or cloudy water, visible particles and odd odors can come from the water supply, but they can also come from a water heater, aging pipes or a single fixture. Check whether the change appears in hot water, cold water or both.

A symptom limited to hot water may point toward the water heater rather than the supply, while a change at every tap suggests the incoming water. An inspection helps confirm the cause, so you do not install treatment for a plumbing problem.

Scale and deposits

Stains or buildup on sinks, tubs and fixtures and frequent plumbing issues caused by mineral deposits are signs of mineral-heavy water. A water softener reduces the minerals that cause buildup in pipes and appliances.

The benefit shows up over time as less buildup on faucets and showerheads and less mineral-related wear on water heaters, dishwashers and washing machines. Ask what routine care the softener needs once it is installed.

Plan the installation

Each system has its own installation needs. A reverse osmosis unit is usually fitted under a sink with its own faucet and a drain connection, while whole-home equipment such as a softener typically connects where water enters the home and needs space nearby.

We look at the available space, the existing plumbing and how the system will be serviced later, then explain the plan before installation. Ask how filters or other components will be reached when maintenance is due.

Commercial properties

Water treatment for businesses

Activated carbon filtration systems are designed to enhance taste and improve clarity for both residential and commercial water use. Businesses that serve drinks, prepare food or simply want better water for staff can ask about carbon filtration and reverse osmosis.

Tell our Peoria office how the business uses water, where treatment is needed and any limits on access or downtime. Commercial installations are planned around the property's operations.

Start with the report

What the City's report says about your tap

The City of El Mirage publishes a consumer confidence report every year. The 2025 edition says the City's water comes from nine wells, puts hardness at 4 to 9 grains per gallon with an average of 7 and recommends 7.5 grains for water softeners. It also has special health information on arsenic, nitrate and lead and a table of test results. Read the latest report for the figures, then decide what you want treatment to do.

Some changes at the tap are not a treatment problem. The report says cloudy or milky water is often trapped air, and that brown water can follow a leak repair or hydrant flushing nearby; the City suggests opening all cold-water faucets together until it clears. The report also warns that unmaintained treatment devices have been found to create odor, taste, color and even bacteriological problems, so a softener or reverse osmosis system needs its filters and settings kept up.

Pricing treatment

What shapes the cost of a water treatment system

Treatment pricing follows what the system has to do and where it goes.

Trident currently offers 20% off a new water softener or filtration system. One per household. Offers can't be combined; some restrictions apply. The reverse osmosis membership includes yearly filter changes for five years, and the salt service membership adds softener salt every 6 to 8 weeks.

  • A whole-home softener, a drinking water system at one tap or both.
  • Softener capacity for your household and the City's 4 to 9 grain range.
  • Whether a softener loop exists or plumbing has to be added where water enters the home.
  • Room, a drain and power where the equipment will sit.
  • Filter changes and salt over the life of the system.

What is in the water

Well water, hardness and the City's report

The City publishes its own hardness figures and water quality notes. Start there before choosing a softener or filter.

All City drinking water is groundwater from these wells, so the minerals at your tap come from the local aquifer.

Approximate dead-end hydrants the City flushes yearly
74

Each spring the City flushes these hydrants, which may stir up mineral deposits and periodically discolor water. Running all the cold-water taps together clears household lines.

Answers before you book

Questions about
water filtration in El Mirage.

Questions about water filtration in El Mirage? Start here, or tell us what is happening at your home.

Ask our team
Why does only my hot water look discolored?

A change limited to hot water may point to the water heater rather than the supply. An inspection helps confirm the cause before treatment is chosen.

Where does a reverse osmosis system go?

Usually under a sink, with a dedicated faucet and a drain connection. We confirm the location and space during planning.

Do you install water treatment for businesses?

Yes. Carbon filtration and reverse osmosis are available for commercial properties as well as homes.

Can a softener fix cloudy water?

Cloudiness can have several causes, and a softener addresses the minerals that cause scale. Describe the change so the right treatment, or a plumbing inspection, can be recommended.

What should I set my softener to here?

The City's water quality report recommends 7.5 grains per gallon for water softeners. Its wells range from 4 to 9 grains, with an average of 7. If you still see scale after setting it, ask us to check the setting against your water.

Why does my water turn brown after hydrant flushing?

The City says flushing may stir up mineral deposits in its water mains, and that the sediment may affect taste, odor and color. It suggests opening all cold-water faucets at once until the water clears, and checking the color before doing laundry, since discolored water may stain whites.
