Repairs, upgrades and upkeep

Gilbert, AZ

Reliable Plumbing Services in Gilbert, AZ

Think first about what the plumbing needs to do. A bathroom may need a leaking fixture repaired, a kitchen may need a replacement sink connected or a water heater may need its changing performance investigated. Trident Plumbing & Drain can help define that work for your Gilbert property.

The local services below cover drain cleaning, sewer concerns, slab leaks, hot-water repair and emergencies. Broader bathroom, kitchen, pipe and maintenance services are also available. Share both the immediate problem and any planned changes so the service conversation reflects how the space will be used.

Bathroom and kitchen work

Start with the room and its fixtures

In a bathroom, tell us about running toilets, dripping faucets, loose fixtures or a planned fixture replacement. In a kitchen, include the sink, faucet, disposal and nearby plumbing involved in the project. A description of the room is often more useful than a guess about a replacement part.

Existing supply and drain connections need to suit the work being proposed. If a fixture has already been selected, share its details before installation. Explain any ongoing leak or drainage concern too, so the new fixture and the underlying plumbing can be considered together.

Choose the cleaning method

Give recurring clogs their own assessment

Repeated slow drainage, gurgling or a backup can interrupt the use of several rooms. Keep track of which fixtures are affected and whether the problem returns after earlier service. That information helps establish whether the concern is local to a fixture or needs investigation farther along the line.

Hydro jetting is one available cleaning option, with the method selected after the line and obstruction are assessed. Cleaning and repairing damaged piping address different findings. Ask the plumber to explain the recommended work and what evidence supports it before treating every repeat clog the same way.

Care for the installation

Build maintenance around what is installed

A maintenance discussion should account for the water heater, fixtures and piping actually in use. Keep model information and earlier service notes where you can find them. Recurring leaks, pressure changes and a history of drain trouble can help prioritize what needs inspection.

Trident provides plumbing inspections, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair. Discuss the work suited to your equipment and its condition, including manufacturer guidance for a water heater or treatment unit. Mention upcoming fixture changes so planned upkeep and installation work can be considered in the same conversation.

Prepare the conversation

Bring the right details to your service request

When contacting the North Phoenix office, provide the Gilbert address, affected fixtures and when the problem began. Explain whether water is escaping or a room cannot be used. For a business, include the access contact and the areas affected during normal operations.

A concern involving town water or sewer service belongs with the appropriate utility contact. Gilbert's utilities page lists customer support and a separate after-hours water and sewer emergency contact. Use those municipal channels for utility-service concerns while arranging property plumbing work with Trident.

Two plants, 20 wells

Where Gilbert's tap water comes from

Gilbert draws its drinking water from more than one place. According to the Town's 2025 water quality report, SRP canals carry Salt and Verde River water to the North Water Treatment Plant, and the CAP canal brings Colorado River water to the Santan Vista plant, which the Town runs in partnership with Chandler. Groundwater from 20 wells fills in when demand is high and when canals or plants are down for maintenance. Overall, the Town lists its supply as 41% Colorado River water, 40% SRP water, 15% reclaimed water and 4% groundwater. The reclaimed share goes to landscape irrigation and aquifer recharge.

What reaches your faucet is hard water. The same report lists total hardness averaging 10.79 grains per gallon in 2025, with readings from 6.61 to 17.54, and the Town's water FAQ mentions seasonal swings. Those minerals leave scale in water heaters, on aerators and showerheads and in softener resin. Our team can check a softener's setting against the Town's figures and plan heater maintenance around the buildup you are seeing.

Built since 1990

Most Gilbert homes went up after 1990

Census estimates put the median home in town at 2004. About 57% of the town's roughly 104,000 housing units were built from 1990 through 2009, another 30% in 2010 or later and about 13% before 1990. Close to three in four occupied homes are lived in by their owners. A house built in 2004 is now past 20 years old, so its plumbing has a history worth knowing: which water heater is installed, what has been replaced and where leaks were repaired.

Town code shapes some of the work that follows. The Town's amendments to the residential code exempt water softeners from a permit. They also exempt a replacement water heater installed by an Arizona licensed contractor when the new unit is listed and labeled and its gas or electrical rating is no higher than the old one's. Tankless systems are excluded from that exemption. Our license, ROC 331536, is issued by the Arizona Registrar of Contractors, and we will tell you which path your project takes before work begins.

Town line or yours

Where your lines end and the Town's begin

Gilbert's municipal code is specific about sewers. Section 66-251 requires every user to clean, unstop and maintain its individual sewer line, the pipe that runs from the building to the Town's main, and to remove root intrusions along its whole length. Repairs on your property are yours to make. For a section that runs off your property, you notify the Town, which coordinates the repair and can bill you if your actions caused the damage. A Town building safety inspector must accept any repair before the line is used again.

The water line follows a similar pattern. The Town's service line diagram marks the pipe between the meter and your house as the homeowner's responsibility and the meter-to-main connection as Gilbert's. For problems in the public system, the Town's Wastewater Division responds to reports of sewer blockages, overflows, odors and suspected pipeline breaks. Leaks and repairs between the meter and your fixtures, and clogs anywhere in your own sewer line, are the work our team handles.

Answers before you book

Questions about
plumbing.

Questions about plumbing services in Gilbert? Start here, or tell us what is happening at your home.

Ask our team
Can a fixture update be discussed alongside a plumbing repair?

Yes. Tell us about the fault and the intended update when arranging service. The existing connections and the proposed fixture help establish whether additional plumbing work is involved.

Does a slow drain automatically need hydro jetting?

No. The plumber considers the restriction and the line before recommending a cleaning method. Previous clogs or drain work are useful details to include.

Can you help if I do not have maintenance records?

Yes. Share whatever equipment details and symptoms you know. Existing records can be useful, but the current plumbing and its condition can still be assessed.

Which office coordinates Gilbert plumbing visits?

Our North Phoenix office coordinates service in Gilbert. Provide the property address and access details when contacting Trident so the requested work can be discussed.

Where does Gilbert get its drinking water?

From several sources. The Town treats Salt and Verde River water from SRP at its North Water Treatment Plant and Colorado River water from the CAP canal at the Santan Vista plant. Groundwater from Town wells supplements both during high demand and canal maintenance.

How hard is the water in Gilbert?

The Town's water FAQ puts the average at 8 to 10 grains per gallon, while its 2025 water quality report lists an average of 10.79 grains, with readings from 6.61 to 17.54. Either figure means mineral scale on fixtures and water-using equipment over time.

Do I need a permit to replace a water heater in Gilbert?

Not always. The Town's code amendments exempt a replacement installed by an Arizona licensed contractor when the new unit is listed and labeled and has an equal or lower gas or electrical rating. Tankless systems are not covered by that exemption.

Who is responsible for a clogged sewer line?

Usually the property owner. Town code requires each user to clean, unstop and maintain its individual sewer line from the building to the main. If a repair is needed on the part that runs off your property, notify the Town, which coordinates that work.

Does the Town offer rebates for plumbing upgrades?

The Town's rebate programs are aimed at outdoor water use, such as smart irrigation controllers and grass removal, rather than indoor fixtures. Check its rebate page for current terms before you buy.
