When it cannot wait

Plumbing problems that need attention now

A burst pipe, an overflowing toilet or water appearing where it should not can disrupt the whole property. Stop using the affected fixture, close the nearest shutoff valve if you can do so safely and describe what is happening when you call.

Tell the office which rooms are affected and whether the water is still spreading. Emergency plumbing, drain cleaning and slab leak detection each address a different cause, and the assessment establishes which applies before repairs begin.

Fixes and upgrades

Planned kitchen, bathroom and fixture work

Not every request is an emergency. A new bathroom setup, a kitchen upgrade or a fixture that has been dripping for weeks can be planned around your schedule, with the work and its scope explained in advance.

Regular plumbing maintenance helps keep the system efficient and reliable between projects. Our maintenance membership offers routine checkups, and financing information is available if you are planning a larger upgrade.

Commercial plumbing

From small offices to larger commercial properties, Trident provides plumbing services scaled to the needs of the business. That includes restroom and fixture repairs, drain and sewer service, and tankless water heaters for commercial use.

Activated carbon filtration systems can also improve taste and clarity for commercial water use. Tell our Peoria office which areas are out of service and who can arrange access, so the work can be planned with the least interruption to operations.

If your water service comes from the City of El Mirage, the city publishes information about its water and wastewater services, utility billing and water quality reports. Use those resources for questions about public service or your utility account.

Trident can assess and repair the fixtures, water heaters, drains and pipes that serve your property. If you are unsure whether a problem is on the property side, describe what you are seeing and we can explain what the inspection finds.

Your water source

Nine City wells and one commercial corridor

Most addresses here get their water from the City. Its Water Division delivers drinking water to the entire city and to the original townsite of Surprise, almost 40,000 people in all, and its 2025 water quality report names nine City wells as the source. The City says all of its drinking water is pumped groundwater, and that it replaces what it pumps with Central Arizona Project water and treated wastewater. The exception is the southern corridor, where the City says EPCOR serves industrial and commercial properties. Check the name on your water bill if you are not sure which applies.

Because the water comes from wells, hardness depends on the well. The City's report lists a range of 4 to 9 grains per gallon with an average of 7, and it recommends a softener setting of 7.5 grains. Those minerals settle as scale in water heaters and on aerators and showerheads. The same report says cloudy or milky water is often trapped air that will not harm household plumbing, so cloudiness alone is no reason to add treatment.

Homes and the City

A housing stock built mostly in the 2000s

Census estimates count about 11,900 homes in El Mirage, with a median build year of 2004. About 63% went up between 2000 and 2009, 14% in the 1990s and another 14% before 1990. Roughly 70% of occupied homes are owner-occupied. In a house from the mid-2000s, an original water heater, faucet cartridges and supply lines have been working for about 20 years, so a repair call often becomes a repair-or-replace decision.

Several common plumbing jobs need a City permit. The City's residential guide requires a permit to install or replace a water heater and to install or repair a sewer line. A water supply line needs one too, whether it is new, repaired or replaced. Applications go through ELM Online Permits. Trident holds Arizona Registrar of Contractors license ROC 331536, and our team walks you through the options before the work begins.

Drains and sewer

Who keeps the sewer line clear

The City's Wastewater Services moves wastewater through its sewer mains to the City's reclamation facility for treatment. The pipe from your house to that system is a different matter. City Code makes the sewer user responsible for installing and maintaining the building sewer line and the sewer connection, the piece that joins the public sewer and runs to the property line at the alley or the curb line of the street. A clog or break in that stretch is a private repair, and a permit is required to install or repair a sewer line.

What goes down the drain matters as much as the pipe. The City warns that fats, oils and grease poured down a drain can clog pipes, cause raw sewage backups and lead to costly repairs for the resident or the City, and that wipes and personal hygiene products clog sewer lines. From mid-November through early January it sets out collection containers for residents' used cooking oil at a City fire station.

The City says industrial and commercial properties on its southern corridor are served by EPCOR, whose territory covers all properties south of Peoria Avenue and west of El Mirage Road, with two exclusions. The name on your water bill tells you which supplier you have.

Questions about
plumbing.

Questions about plumbing services in El Mirage? Start here, or tell us what is happening at your home.

Ask our team
Do you serve businesses as well as homes?

Yes. Trident provides commercial plumbing along with residential service, including fixture repairs, drain service and water heater work.

What should I do first if a pipe bursts?

Close the nearest shutoff or the main water valve if it is safe to do so, stop using the affected fixtures and contact our Peoria office with what you see.

Can you install a tankless water heater for a business?

Yes. We install, maintain and repair tankless water heaters for residential and commercial properties.

Who do I contact about my water bill?

If the city provides your water service, questions about the account go to its utility billing team. Trident handles plumbing repairs and installations at your property.

Where does El Mirage tap water come from?

For most homes, from the City's own wells. The City's 2025 report names nine wells as the source, and the City says it replaces the groundwater it pumps with Central Arizona Project water and treated wastewater. Some industrial and commercial properties in the southern corridor are EPCOR customers instead, so check the name on your bill.

How hard is the water from the City's wells?

The City's water quality report lists 4 to 9 grains per gallon depending on the well, with an average of 7. It recommends setting water softeners to 7.5 grains.

Is a permit needed to replace a water heater?

Yes. The City's residential permit guide says a permit is required for the installation or replacement of a water heater, and the installation must meet the 2018 International Plumbing Code and International Residential Code.

Who is responsible for the sewer line from my house?

Under City Code, the sewer user installs and maintains the building sewer line and the sewer connection at the user's own expense. The City's Wastewater Services runs the sewer mains and the reclamation facility beyond that.

Who handles a water emergency on the City's side after hours?

For an after-hours water emergency on the City's system, such as a main break, the City's Public Works page says to call its emergency phone and follow the prompts. A leak inside your home or in the pipes on your property is a job for a plumber.
