A closer look at the tank

Rheem Marathon water heaters in Peoria, AZ

Trident Plumbing & Drain offers Marathon water heaters by Rheem to homeowners in Peoria and the Greater Phoenix area. These electric storage water heaters use a non-metallic tank, making them an option to consider when replacing a conventional tank heater.

The product name is only one part of choosing a replacement. Our team helps you evaluate the model, hot water capacity and installation needs alongside the other systems suitable for your home. We also provide support when your water heater needs troubleshooting or maintenance.

The Marathon difference

Rheem’s Marathon specification describes a seamless polybutene tank reinforced with fiberglass, with a molded outer shell and insulation to limit standby heat loss. The tank material differs from the steel construction used in many conventional storage heaters.

That construction does not mean every part of the water heating system is maintenance-free. Connections, controls and heating components still need the appropriate inspection and service. A product’s tank design should be considered alongside the condition of the whole installation.

Start with demand

Choose capacity for your household

Tell us when hot water tends to run short, how many people use it and which showers or appliances often run together. Those details help us compare a replacement with your current heater instead of selecting by tank size alone.

The selected model’s first-hour rating and physical dimensions belong in that comparison. A heater also needs an appropriate electrical supply and accessible connections. We check the proposed installation rather than assume every Marathon model can fit any home.

  • Current heater type and the problems you want to solve.
  • Household demand during the busiest parts of the day.
  • Space for the heater, connections and future service.
  • The selected model’s requirements and documentation.

The work involved

Installation with clear choices along the way

Trident’s water heater installation service includes helping you choose a system, removing the old unit, installing the replacement and testing operation. For a Marathon, that process starts with confirming the model and the work your existing setup requires.

If you are comparing Marathon with a conventional tank, hybrid or tankless heater, ask us to walk through the differences. The construction of the tank, the way the unit heats water and the installation requirements are separate parts of the decision.

Keep the details

Maintenance and product documentation

Keep the model number and product paperwork available after installation. Manufacturer warranty terms depend on the product and applicable conditions; review the documentation for the model you are considering rather than relying on a general lifetime claim.

For an existing heater, contact us about leaks, inconsistent hot water or other changes in performance. We can inspect the problem and discuss service or replacement. The next step depends on what we find, not simply on the name on the tank.

Our 12 year old water heater was leaking. I called and spoke with Shelby who was able to dispatch a technician immediately, same day… Tyler arrived on time, worked efficiently and cleaned up after himself.

Questions about marathon water heater installation? Start here, or tell us what is happening at your home.

Ask our team
What makes a Marathon water heater different?

Rheem’s Marathon uses a non-metallic polybutene storage tank reinforced with fiberglass. That construction is different from a conventional steel tank. Model capacity and installation requirements still need to match your home.

Is a Marathon a hybrid or tankless water heater?

The Marathon products discussed here are electric storage tank water heaters. A hybrid uses heat pump technology, while a tankless unit heats water on demand. Trident can help compare these different approaches.

Can Trident install a Marathon in my home?

We can assess the location and household demand, then confirm a suitable model and its installation requirements. The existing space and electrical setup affect the recommendation.

Does a Marathon still need service?

Yes. A non-metallic tank does not eliminate inspection or maintenance needs for the heater and its connections. Follow the instructions for the exact model and ask our team about changes in performance.
